Burma seeks Indian investment
The second-in-command of Burma's military government, General Maung Aye, has urged Indian business leaders to increase investment in Burma. General Maung Aye, who's on a visit to India, told a meeting in Delhi organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry that Burma was now an attractive place for foreign investment. Earlier General Maung Aye discussed the question of separatist insurgents along their common border with the Indian interior minister, L K Advani. About a hundred Burmese students staged a protest in Delhi against the visit. Some were briefly detained by police. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
