Run-through for Zeta Jones
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones
Hollywood duo prepare for a "sumptuous" party
Hollywood couple Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones are rehearsing their lines as they are one day away from the celebrity wedding of the year.

The actors will be joined by family and friends for a run-through of the ceremony at The Russian Tea Rooms in New York.

The wedding itself takes place on Saturday, in the Grand Ballroom of the glitzy Plaza Hotel overlooking Central Park.

Many of the biggest names in showbiz are believed to be on the guest list - from Sirs Sean Connery and Michael Caine to Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston - and of course the groom's father, Hollywood veteran Kirk Douglas.

This is my second wedding but Catherine's first - and last - I want it to be as nice for her as possible.

Catherine Zeta Jones' entire family - including her octogenarian grandmother Zeta - have been flown over from South Wales for the occasion.

There had been fears Zeta might not make it because of a hip operation, but she was given the all-clear to travel.

The couple's three-month old baby Dylan will watch the ceremony from his grandmother's arms, while Douglas's 21-year-old son, Cameron, from his first marriage will act as best man.

Zeta Jones' fellow countrymen Tom Jones and Bonnie Tyler are also expected to attend the lavish party, which is believed to be costing the couple between £1.2m and £1.5m.

The dress, which is being kept secret until Saturday, is rumoured to have cost more than £100,000.

It was designed by David Emanuel, co-creator of Princess Diana's wedding gown.

The couple have reportedly sold exclusive picture rights to the wedding to the celebrity magazine OK! for £1m.

This would match the sum paid for pictures of David and Victoria Beckham's nuptials in Ireland two years ago.

Douglas, 56, said last month he wanted the event to be a "sumptuous party".

"This is my second wedding but Catherine's first - and last. I want it to be as nice for her as possible," he said.

Douglas became free to marry Zeta Jones, 31, after divorcing his wife of 23 years, Diandra.
