Legislators in Mexico have accused the United States of breaking international accords over its plans to build a nuclear waste reprocessing plant in Texas near the Mexican border.

Campaigners say the proposed site at Sierra Blanca breaks an bilateral agreement signed in the 1960's preventing the building of toxic facilities near the joint border.

They have called on the Mexican government to lobby Washington to scrap the project.
