Murder suspect 'confessed to friend'
Murder scene, Bridgend
Rebecca Storrs' body was found in a river
A 33-year-old man accused of murdering schoolgirl Rebecca Storrs confessed about the crime to a friend, a court was told.

Cardiff Crown Court heard that Marc Shillibier told Aaron Latham that he had killed 18-year-old Ms Storrs, from Bridgend.

He claimed that she was still breathing when her left her.

Mr Latham, 21, told the court that Shillibier "didn't know why he killed her".

"He held his fingers about a foot apart" to show Latham how big the murder weapon was.

But he would not tell his friend which tool he had used to kill Ms Storrs.

The court heard how Shillibier "cleaned the tool and then buried it about half a mile away" and told Latham, "you'd never be able to find where it was buried."

Mr Latham told the court that Shillibier had said "if they find the tool he would put his hands up and if they don't, he won't."

The court heard how Shillibier "was a lot quieter" after the murder night and was "using more amphetamines" than his usual 45-a-day habit.

'Rejected advances'

Mr Latham earlier told the court how Shillibier had said that Ms Storrs was "on the game."

The prosecution witness told the court how Shillibier had spoken to him about the night Ms Storrs disappeared.

Marc Shillibier: Confession claim
Shillibier is accused of murdering Ms Storrs after meeting her at a house party then dumping her body in the river.

She was found in the River Ogmore after going to a house party with friends.

She met Shillibier at the party - and the court heard he killed her after she rejected his sexual advances.

Mr Latham told the jury how Shillibier claimed he was "a friend of hers" and "knew her quite well".

He had also said how that night "they smoked cannabis together".

Cardiff Crown Court heard how Shillibier commited crimes to feed his drug habit costing more than £40 a day.

Mr Latham explained how on one occasion, whilst in Cornwall, Shillibier broke into a red BMW to steal a handbag.

Shillibier, of Bridgend, denies murder.

The trial continues.
