Coca-Cola in huge race pay-out

The US soft drinks giant Coca-Cola Company is to pay $192.5m in compensation to a group of about 2,000 African-American workers who accused the company of racial discrimination.

The workers said they had suffered discrimination in pay, promotions and perfomance evaluations.

Details of the settlement were released on Thursday, and Coca Cola - the world's largest soft drinks firm - has agreed to a complete examination of its employment practices.

The workers who brought the lawsuit were employed by the company between April, 1995 and June, 2000.
