The Attorney General of Bangladesh, KS Nabi, has resigned following mounting speculation that the Prime Minister was displeased that Mr Nabi travelled abroad without government permission.

Mr Nabi said that he was resigning for personal reasons and because he felt that the dignity of his office was at stake.

He said that he did not require government pemission to travel to London for a conference, and that he had tried do to his job to the best of his ability.
