Kylie to spin around Britain
Kylie Minogue
Kylie promises a major tour extravanganza
Pop star Kylie Minogue has announced her first British tour for eight years.

Record bosses for the Australian chart-topper said she would be playing at six major venues around the country.

They added that Kylie's show would be a song and dance spectacular to outshine recent shows staged by the likes of Britney Spears.

Tour venues
Glasgow Armadillo 3/3
Manchester Apollo 8/3
Brighton Centre 13/3
Cardiff International Arena 14/3
Bournemouth International Centre 15/3
London Hammersmith Apollo 17/3

The On A Night Like This tour - named after a track on her latest album - will start in March and tickets go on sale from Friday.

A spokesman joked: "Sequin and glitter stocks are running high."

Kylie is due to sing with Robbie Williams at Thursday's MTV Europe Music Awards in Sweden.

They will perform their single Kids - on which Kylie features as a star attraction.

The duet - and the tour announcement - are indications of the revival in Kylie's career.

She returned to her disco heartland with her latest album Light Years in September.

The singer scored a number one with album track Spinning Around during the summer.

It was followed by an appearance at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Sydney.

Indeed, Kylie's restored popularity even reportedly led to an approach to star as Anna in the London West End stage production of The King and I.

She turned down the offer and is currently planning production ideas for her tour.

In the meantime, she is due to appear at this year's Royal Variety Performance on 5 December.

A few days later, she will release her Christmas single Please Stay/Santa Baby.
