North Iraq bomb blast kills six

Reports from northern Iraq say six people have been killed and many others injured in a bomb explosion at a cafe in the city of Erbil.

A spokesman for the Kurdish Democratic Party was quoted as saying explosives were thrown at the cafe by someone on a motorbike.

The official, Safeen Dizayee who's based in neighbouring Turkey said it was not known who was behind the attack on Tuesday -- the first of its kind in the area for several years. Two rival Kurdish parties rule Northern Iraq, which has been outside Baghdad's control since the end of the Gulf War.
