South Korean union activists face prosecution

Prosecutors in South Korea say they will bring charges against more than one hundred and forty trade union activists who organised this week's strike.

Thousands of workers led by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions took part in the two day stoppage against job cuts, which was declared illegal by the government.

Prosecutors say the union activists will be charged with obstructing company operations.

South Korea's major car makers, Daewoo and Hyundai, were badly affected by the strike.
