Pakistan to increase arms production
The Pakistani military leader, General Pervez Musharraf, says his country will continue its drive to build its own weapons and to sell them on the international market. General Musharraf was speaking at an international arms exhibition in Karachi, which is being attended by defence ministers, armed forces chiefs and senior generals from about forty countries. General Musharraf said there was big money in defence and Pakistan needed to enter into areas where developed countries were not competing. Correspondents say Pakistan's arms exports now stand at around fifty million dollars a year. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
