AMs debate strategy for future
![]() Dyfi Eco Park is held up as a good example
The National Assembly for Wales is expected to hear that a successful society can no longer be measured in terms of economic growth alone.
AMs are due to debate a new strategy for sustainable development called "Learning to Live Differently". It is not an easy concept to grasp but it is one the National Assembly has to get to grips with. It has a duty to explore sustainable development under teh terms of the act which set up the assembly. The document says developments will only be promoted if they meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. Energy efficiency Essentially that is all about preserving Wales's natural resources. Already there are some examples of good sustainable development practice in Wales. At the Dyfi Eco Parc in Machynlleth, business units have been built from locally-sourced materials with a high energy efficiency. But - as the National Assembly recognises - making a real difference will mean a sea change in the way we all live our lives.
