'Bug' school to re-open
Laboratory testing
Extensive tests have been carried out
The school in Dunblane which closed after pupils and staff took ill will re-open on Friday

Newton Primary School in Dunblane was shut on Monday after 35 pupils and 10 of the 20-strong staff reported feeling unwell over the weekend.

A spokesman for Stirling Council said: "Preliminary investigations by Forth Valley Health Board indicate that the illness was most likely due to a common virus and not bacterial.

"A final report from the board's public health consultant Dr Anthony Breslin is expected in a few days."

The spokesman added that the decision to close the school on Monday was a "precautionary measure".

The state-of-the-art school was opened in August 1996 and has 383 pupils.

Tests have been carried out on all the possible sources of the illness, including school meals and the water supply.
