Murder charge Sikh leader granted bail
A prominent Sikh leader in the northern Indian state of Punjab who is charged with murdering her daughter has been granted bail by the state high court. Bibi Jagir Kaur was ordered to appear at the Central Bureau of Investigation headquarters in Dehli for questioning on Friday. The CBI has been investigating the suspicious death of Ms Kaur's teenage daughter Harpreet in April. The dead girl was cremated before any post-mortem examination had taken place. The family said she died of food poisoning. The CBI allege she had angered her mother by secretly marrying. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
