UN optimistic about funds for North Korean recovery

The first direct talks between North Korea and the international community on reducing North Korean reliance on overseas food aid have ended in Geneva.

The United Nations said it was confident that three-hundred-million dollars would be raised from donor countries over the next three years to help agricultural recovery.

North Korea has suffered a recurring cycle of flood and drought.

More than forty countries took part in the discussions, including South Korea, which was praised by the UN for offering constructive and positive support.
