Jerry Hall lights up West End
Hall
Jerry Hall is appearing in The Graduate in London's West End
Actress Jerry Hall has switched on the Christmas lights in London's Bond Street.

The model-turned actress was accompanied by daughter Georgia May as she turned on the lights in one of London's premier shopping streets.

Ms Hall - currently starring in a stage version of The Graduate - is the latest in a long list of glamorous names to flick the switch at the upmarket street in central London.

Victoria Beckham, Helen Mirren, Caprice, Elizabeth Hurley and Diana, Princess Of Wales have taken part in previous ceremonies.

Hall has been starring as Mrs Robinson in the West End production of The Graduate since August.

The 44-year-old took over the role from Hollywood actress Kathleen Turner, and like her predecessor won headlines for a brief naked scene in the show.

She won mixed reviews for her performance. One critic described her as "wooden as a toothpick", and another as "a case of more style than substance," although the show has proved a hit with the public.

The switching on of Bond Street's lights follows a similar ceremony in nearby Regent Street on Tuesday evening, which was performed by pop singer Billie Piper.

The singer was joined by London Mayor Ken Livingstone at a ceremony watched by thousands of people.

"I have just finished a committee meeting on waste materials, so it is a delight to now be meeting a pop star like Billie," said the mayor.
