Turkey denies Afghan attack rumours

Turkey has denied rumours that it is planning to allow the United States to use its Incirlik airbase to launch an air attack on the Taleban.

The Turkish charge d'affaires in Afghanistan, Ramis Sen, blamed Iran for starting the rumour, saying it wanted to undermine Turkish interests in the region.

The BBC correspondent in Kabul says there have been persistent reports that the United States might attack targets in Afghanistan following its allegations that the Saudi militant, Osama bin Laden, was involved in the bombing last month of an American warship off the coast of Yemen.
