African Development Bank ends annual meeting

The Africa Development Bank has ended its annual Governors meeting in the Ivorian capital, Abidjan.

The bank's annual development report showed African economic growth of three-point-seven per cent last year and forecast continued growth this year.

According to the report, exports and life expectancy in African countries have risen while debt and infant mortality are decreasing.

The bank governors unanimously approved reforms which will increase the bank's capital funding while giving non-African members a greater say in its affairs.

Some finance ministers at the meeting criticised the bank for failing to help countries emerging from conflict and not acknowledging the needs of its poorest members.
