Taiwan denies spying on China

Taiwan has denied allegations made by China that four of its nationals were working as spies for the defence ministry on the Chinese mainland.

Taiwanese officials said the allegations were completely false, and warned that relations with China could be damaged.

Beijing announced on Thursday that four businessmen, who it said had been members of a Taiwanese association founded to promote contact with China, were arrested in March.

Officials have urged China to deal with the matter carefully.
