Shot Iran reformist back at work
Reports from Iran say the pro-reform politician, Said Hajarian, has returned to work eight months after an assassination attempt that nearly killed him. The reports say he reported for duty at Teheran City Hall in a wheelchair, and his attendance at future council meetings would depend on his doctors' approval. Mr Hajarian, a close ally of President Mohammad Khatami, was shot in the face outside the municipal offices in Teheran where he worked. The attack left him partially paralysed. Several men were later jailed for their part in the attack. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
