Burmese military to re-open Rangoon University to post-graduates

Reports from the Burmese capital, Rangoon, say that the military government has announced it's going to re-open Rangoon University for post-graduate courses.

The campus was closed by the military government nearly a year-and-a half ago after student demonstrations at both the university and the Institute of Technology in the city.

The reports said that the university would re-open to post-graduates on June the eighteenth, but under-graduate courses will remain closed.

Since the popular pro-democracy uprising in Burma ten years ago the military government has often closed schools, colleges and universities.

Tens of thousands of high school students have had to wait for university places.
