Lesotho party names new premier

The leader of the governing Lesotho Congress for Democracy, Pakalitha Mosisili, has been chosen as the country's new prime minister, after the party won a landslide victory in general elections last weekend.

Mr Mosisili replaces Ntsu Mokhele, who stepped down as party leader earlier this year February because of health problems.

The Lesotho Congress for Democracy won all but two of the eighty National Assembly seats in the elections.

The opposition Basutoland Congress Party and Basotho National Party have protested against the results, saying the elections were fraudulent, but overseas observers described the vote as acceptable to international standards.
