Pakistan air chief gets seven years
The state news agency in Pakistan says a former head of Pakistan International Airlines, Waqar Azeem, has been sentenced to seven years jail for corruption.

Azeem, a retired air marshal, was also fined more than two million rupees ($30,000) by the Accountability Court in Rawalpindi for defaulting on a large loan from the state-run National Bank of Pakistan.

Three of his brothers were given four year sentences, but his wife was acquitted.

The case is one of a number of high-profile prosecutions brought under the anti-corruption campaign launched by the military ruler, General Pervez Musharraf, who seized power a year ago.
