Killers' signed phone cards for sale
![]() Noel McCready (right): Signed phone card for sale
The mother of a man killed by two convicted loyalists has condemned the sale of telephone cards bearing their signatures over the internet.
Ann Trainor, whose son Damien was killed along with Philip Allen as they drank together in a bar in Poyntzpass in March 1998, said the men convicted of their murders would "do anything to get money". A US-based company is selling phone cards which are claimed to have been autographed by Stephen McClean and Noel McCready from Banbridge who are serving life sentences for the murders. Both men were members of the outlawed paramilitary group, the Loyalist Volunteer Force.
"McCready and McClean will suffer, I might not see it, but they will suffer. "They think they're heroes but they will suffer." She said she did not have anger. "People have said to me 'lock my door' - I said no, I would never turn anyone away." She added she was speaking out for Damien, her husband Sean, and her dead son's brother, James. Both McCready and McClean were refused early release accorded to other paramilitary prisoners under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. |
