Prime Minister Sharif: under pressure at home

Following the announcement that Pakistan has carried out several nuclear tests, Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is to hold a news conference at 1300GMT.

In the past month Prime Minister Sharif has been under political pressure at home to respond to the five underground nuclear blasts recently carried out by its neighbour, India.

But the United States and other nations warned they could impose tough sanctions if Pakistan proceeded with its own test.
