| Striking workers in the Philippines have been holding protest rallies across the country to press their demand for president Joseph Estrada to resign. The demonstrators are taking part in a general strike supported by trade unions and employers alike. Mr Estrada has been implicated in an illegal gambling racket and now faces trial. The BBC's John McLean reports from Manila.
