Gubernatorial elections underway in Mexico

Voting is underway in Mexico for state governor of the powerful western state of Jalisco.

The National Action Party, or PAN, which won recent national elections, is comfortably ahead in the opinion polls and is expected to win again despite concerns about low turnout.

Observers say a PAN victory would be another blow to the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, which is still trying to come to terms with its defeat in the national elections, after more than seven decades in power.
