In a joint statement, the main opposition Social Democrats and six other parties accused the governing Socialist Party of vote-rigging, and said they would ask the Constitutional court to annul the results. Preliminary figures give the Socialists of President Abdou Diouf control of twenty seven out of thirty districts. Full results are expected by the end of the week.
