But the real worry for England came when Ian Wright was forced to come off with an injured knee midway through the opening 45 minutes.
The 18-year-old Liverpool striker was attempting to latch on to Graeme Le Saux's through ball.
England began sluggishly and Paul Gascoigne in particular was caught in possession on several occasions. Morocco threatened several times in the opening 10 minutes, before England's back three asserted themselves. England's first meaningful attack came after 10 minutes when Ian Wright held the ball up on the edge of the area for Darren Anderton to cross. But the danger was averted when the impressive Saber headed clear.
