Boys of 12 accused of raping five-year-old

A five-year-old girl has told a court how she was raped when she went out to play with two 12-year-old boys on a Sunday afternoon.

The judge and barristers at Leeds Crown Court took off their wigs as the little girl, her blonde hair in pigtails, gave evidence via a video link.

Judge Arthur Myerson QC warned the jury the case would be distressing.

The girl told how she was taken to Harehills Cemetery in Leeds last September, when the boys - her 12-year-old uncle with whom she lived and another 12-year-old - took it in turns to have sex with her.

The girl's uncle, who is now 13, has admitted indecent assault.

The other boy, still 12, who sat in court with his father at his side, denies rape.

Nicholas Campbell, prosecuting, told the jury the girl kicked and screamed as the 12-year-old raped her.

When she got home she told her grandmother that the boy had got on top of her and told her he was going to show her "what daddies do to mummies," Mr Campbell told the court.

Mr Campbell said the 12-year-old raped the girl the first time and then threatened the girl's uncle that he would burn his clothes on a fire they had made if he did not also have sex with the girl.

The 12-year-old then raped her for a second time, the court heard.

In a video-taped interview with police, screened in court, the girl told how she tried to fight the 12-year-old off.

"I was saying 'get off me, get off me' and kicking my legs at him but he wouldn't get off," she said.

The case is expected to finish on Friday.
