Education minister resigns in Assam

The education minister in India's northeastern state of Assam, Thaneswar Bodo, has resigned.

He's the third minister in the state government to stand down in the past week.

Mr Bodo said he was disappointed with what he called the arbitrary style of leadership of Assam's chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta.

A BBC correspondent in Calcutta says that the education minister's resignation is a sign that the power struggle within the governing Asom Gana Party is intensifying.
