WWF accuses Europe of mismanaging its forests

A report by the World Wildlife Fund has criticised Western European countries for endangering their woodlands.

According to the report more and more forests are being used for timber production in a way that destroys the natural habitats of many woodland species.

The organisation says this goes against goverment pledges about sustainable forest management.

The report also ranked the countries according to how they manage their forests.

Switzerland got the highest score and Denmark came out worst.
