Protestors call for resignation of Lesotho election official

Five thousand protestors have demonstrated in the centre of Maseru, the capital of Lesotho, calling for the resignation of the head of the Electoral Commission, Sekara Mafisa.

The protestors are unhappy over the organisation of Saturday's general elections.

With most of the votes counted, the ruling Lesotho Congress for Democracy party has won an overwhelming victory, with the opposition Basotho National Party winning just one of the eighty seats at stake.

The demonstrators dispersed peacefully after the protest but said they were planning to hold a strike on Thursday 28th May.
