Somwhere along the way concessions will have to be made as more and more differences between nations threaten to break up the union that so many have fought so long to forge. Then perhaps we can all go back to being proud of our diversity as well as building on what we have in common.
No partnership can ever succeed without concessions and this is what being part of the EU requires. It does not have to mean that a member state loses its unique identity. But on those issues which are likely to cause tension each country must be prepared to meet half way. |
