India distillery pollution

The state parliament of Madhya Pradesh in India has called for the prosecution of the owners of a distillery which it says has polluted the Betwa river.

A report by a parliamentary committee says that the distillery has releasedsewage into the river, damaging the local environment.

The report urges the state government to move the distillery or cancel its licence.

It also calls for an investigation into the alleged collusion between government officials and the distillery's owners.
