Saudi FM declares Tehran visit a success

The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Saud al-Feisal, has described two days of talks with the Iranian leadership in Tehran as highly successful.

During the visit, Prince Faisal and his Iranian counterpart, Kamal Kharrazi, signed agreements on economic and cultural cooperation aimed at improving relations which became strained after the Iranian revolution in 1979.

Prince Faisal said the improved relationship provided scope for extensive cooperation in other areas.

Mr Khatami said earlier that he hoped the agreement would have a significant influence on the Islamic world and assist in resolving the Afghan conflict.
