Fourteen rebels dead in Sri Lanka battle

Tamil Tiger guerrillas in Sri Lanka say fourteen of their fighters were killed when they tried to overrun a government-held bridge in the east of the country A Defence Ministry spokesman confirmed the fighting and said the Tigers' attack, in the district of Batticaloa, had been repulsed.
