China flood deaths

Reports from southern China say at least thirty seven people have been killed over the past two days in floods caused by torrential summer rain.

The official news agency Xinhua said the weekend's casualties in Hunan Province brought the death toll to more than seventy five since the rains started at thebeginning of the month.

The agency said the flood waters had destroyed more than twenty thousand homes and damaged almost sixty thousand hectares of farmland.
