Philippines pornography recycled as Bibles
Philippine customs officials have shredded more than one ton of pornographic magazines seized at Manila's international airport, saying they plan to use the paper for producing Bibles. The customs chief, Guillermo Parayno, said the magazines could be used to spread Christian teachings instead of immorality. He said a local company would recycle the paper free of charge. Correspondents say the Philippine authorities have recently launched a campaign against distributors of pornographic material. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
