Steel or tinplate

At Corus, the steel is put with molten iron and oxygen into a furnace which heats up to about 1,700C.

The metal is formed into slabs and then hot-rolled into coils.

The steel is then used in one of three ways tinplate (steel with a thin tin coating) for things like cans or aerosols, steel for the automotive industry or steel for industrial products such as girders.

The metal is then sold to manufacturers in the UK or abroad.
