In pictures: Recycling in Bradford
To new newspapers

The paper is sent about 80 miles away to the UPM paper mill in Shotton, Flintshire. UPM is a multi-national firm based in Finland.

Shotton takes about 500 lorry-loads a week of waste paper to make up to 500,000 tonnes of 100% recycled newsprint a year.

The paper is mixed with hot water in a rotating cylinder which breaks it into fibres, and de-inked with air and soap.

Screens and filters remove glue, staples and things that should not be there, like free DVDs or plastic wraps.
