In pictures: The generations claim
'Better life'

Leona Roberts, 35, is manager of the Falkland Islands Museum. Her great-great-great-grandfather James Biggs, his wife and three children, arrived on a boat from England in 1842 with the first British civil administrator of the islands, Governor Richard Moody.

"The arrival of these men and their families apparently brought the permanent population to 61," says Leona.

"I guess maybe they came with the hope of a better life."

Leona's son Nick, 12, is a seventh generation islander.
