In pictures: Ancient Roman paintings
Women, Pompeii

This delicate painting of the Queen of Lydia, Omphale, comes from the House of the Prince of Montenegro.

The queen holds a fan in her right hand and is flanked by two young servant women dressed in flowing robes.

The fresco dates from the time of Emperor Augustus, who is believed to have died near Naples.

The exhibition opened on 19 December and will run until 30 March 2008.
