In pictures: India tea workers
Loading up

About 85% of India's tea is picked in West Bengal and Assam.

At the Dooars garden, workers load freshly-picked tea leaves. The leaves are then dried and graded, before being taken to auction in Calcutta.

Workers are paid on average under 50 rupees ($1) a day, plus some help with rent and fuel costs.

Trade unions want pay doubled and say a move to link wages to productivity is unacceptable.
