Photojournal: Getting water in Africa
Dignity preserved

Sophie Zongo, Bayandi Palogo, Burkina Faso, says there have been lots of changes since safe water arrived.

Before everyone had to go to the toilet in the open. The flies would go into the faeces and come in the houses. They brought dirtiness and illness.

Now the latrines are so close to our houses that even if you are ill you can use them. We feel better because our dignity is preserved, especially the women.
