UK forces - Kuwait: 26,000 ground troops are deployed in the Gulf, many of which are in Kuwait. Units include Headquarters 1 (UK) Armoured Division, with support from 7th Armoured Brigade, 16 Air Assault Brigade and 102 Logistics Brigade.
The first units known to have gone into combat were 3 Commando Royal Marines, engaged in operations in south-east Iraq and the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery.
RAF Tornado GR4s which were already stationed in the country are also thought to have been involved in bombing sorties.
