Date Movie moves to UK top spot

Alyson Hannigan and Adam Campbell in Date Movie Spoof rom-com Date Movie has debuted at the top of the UK box office, taking £1.3m over three days and knocking Chicken Little off the number one spot.

Other new entries to the top ten included Lucky Number Slevin and the Oscar-nominated Capote.

Capote, whose star Phillip Seymour Hoffman is tipped to take the best actor Oscar on Sunday, debuted at 10, despite showing on just 50 screens.

Casanova and Aeon Flux both dropped out of the top 10 after just two weeks.

Sequels Final Destination 3, at number four, and Big Momma's House 2, at number five, make up the top five after three weeks on release.

Oscar nominees Walk the Line, Good Night, and Good Luck and Brokeback Mountain continue to draw cinemagoers at numbers six, seven and nine respectively, rounding out the top ten.
