An innovative recruitment campaign hopes to tackle the national shortage of lollipop men and women.
Walsall Council wants to increase interest in its vacancies for crossing wardens across the borough.
It will post specially designed posters at crossings which do not currently have a warden.
Council leaders said the shortage of school crossing patrol wardens has already led to them holding recruitment roadshows and running previous advertising campaigns.
'Tremendous service'
Theresa Cash, from Walsall Council, said: "We thought the poster was a great way of getting our recruitment message straight to the heart of communities across the borough.
"We hope the campaign will encourage more people to become wardens, as there are still long-term vacancies in many parts of the borough where children face danger trying to cross roads unaided.
"These are very important jobs which help keep our children safe from danger.
"School crossing patrol wardens perform a tremendous service for families in their community."
This year saw Walsall's lollipop men and women celebrate 50 years of helping the borough's youngsters cross busy streets and get to school safely.
