Two charged after cannabis raid

Strong cannabis worth more than £500,000 has been found during a police raid in Bradford.

About 2,000 cannabis plants, which are thought to be of the strong skunk variety, were found in the raid in the early hours of Thursday.

West Yorkshire Police said the seizure was the largest ever of this kind of cannabis in the city.

A 24-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl have since appeared in court and been remanded in custody.

En Sheng Chen, 24, of no fixed address, was remanded until July 25 by Bradford magistrates.

He is charged with producing cannabis plants and being in possession of an offensive weapon.

The 16-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with the production of cannabis and remanded into the care of the local authority.
