Gujarat police shoot protesters
Two people have been killed in the western Indian state of Gujarat in a clash between police and local Muslims in the city of Baroda.

The clash erupted on Monday morning as Muslims protested against the demolition of a mausoleum.

The authorities say the demolition is part of a campaign against illegal construction work.

Police said they tried controlling the crowd with batons and tear gas and were then forced to open fire.

Six people were also injured.

A curfew has been imposed in the old city area of Baroda. Police now say the situation is under control.
