Six men die in Bangladesh custody
Security officials in Bangladesh say six men arrested for being members of two banned extremist groups have died in police custody.

Officials said the men were killed during an exchange of fire between an armed group and security forces.

The Rapid Action Battalion taskforce said that the men were arrested in south-west Bangladesh on Sunday.

Human rights groups say that since the RAB started operations in April, about 80 people have died in custody.

The deaths are described as occurring because of crossfire between security forces and extremist groups, rights activists say.

The two banned extremist groups are active in south-western Bangladesh and authorities accuse them of involvement in kidnapping.
